What We Believe

The Scriptures

We believe and confess that the scriptures (the Bible) are the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience. (1689, Chapter 1, paragraph 1) While we are confessional and we believe the 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession is accurate in interpreting the Scriptures, we believe they are subordinate standards in regards to God’s Holy Scriptures. This is also the position of our confession and the Particular Baptist who framed the confession.

Five Solas of the Reformation.

We believe in the following five solas of the reformation: Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Sola Christus, Soli Deo Gloria.

Confessional

We are a confessional church who holds to full subscription of the 1689 London Baptist Confession as our subordinate standard. We are in agreement with the Particular Baptists and believe the 1689 is correct in it’s interpretation of scripture

Covenantal

We believe that the divine covenants unite the teachings of the Scriptures. Our covenantal theology would be described as 1689 Federalism.

Calvinistic

We believe in the doctrines of grace sometimes summarized by the acronym TULIP: total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and the perseverance of the saints.

Regulative Principle of Worship

We believe that scripture is the ultimate authority on worship, and that God is to be worshipped only as He has prescribed in the Holy Scriptures and not based upon man’s inventions. Reformed worship is simple worship and worship at our church consists of the following positive prescriptions: reading of scripture, exposition of the scriptures, singing of “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs”, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper on the Lord’s Day which is the first day of the week.
